Renouncement of studies

If you have encountered difficulties in your academic journey, it may be possible to find a solution: inquire at the student secretariat or with the academic advisors in your department. A meeting could be helpful in finding suitable solutions to your issues.

Renouncing studies is an irrevocable and unconditional act by which the student decides to discontinue their university studies and can be initiated at any time.

Students who intend to renounce their studies can use the dedicated procedure integrated into their personal area of the Self Studenti platform under the "Career" section -> "Renunciation", thereby losing their student status from that moment onwards.

To renounce studies, a stamp duty of €16.00 is also required, which is charged by the Student Secretariat once the request has been processed. This payment obligation can be fulfilled virtually once initiated by the student. The academic record will be permanently closed, and the student will see their career status as "Ceased" in their Reserved Area. Finally, the student must return their Uniss identification card to the Student Secretariat or, alternatively, send a photo demonstrating its destruction to the relevant addresses provided by their Student Secretariat.

Renouncing studies does not involve any university fees, provided the student has not undertaken any academic activities (e.g., exams) or requested any certifications for the relevant academic year.

Following the renunciation of studies, the student may enroll in the same or another course of study, provided it is active at the University. The request for recognition of acquired credits will be examined by the Course of Study Council.

For further information, it is advisable to contact the Student Secretariats via email.
