The gardeners of EVA MAMELI CALVINO

A performance by and with Andrea Mameli and Valentina Sulas

With this show, Andrea Mameli (actor and journalist) and Valentina Sulas (actress and author) open a window on the life of a person whose work and educational action marked a part of the 20th century.
Eva Mameli Calvino, born in Sassari, Sassari, on February 12, 1886, was not only the first woman to obtain a professorship in an Italian university in Botany (in Pavia, in 1915) and the first woman to direct a Botanical Garden in Italy (the one in Cagliari, from 1926 to 1929). But she was also the person who most of all guided the growth of one of the most important personalities for the culture of the last century: her son Italo

Biodiversity resource to enhance the territory

Display of materials and posters (morning) and workshops (afternoon) to publicize the risks related to alien species and the importance of protecting and enhancing biodiversity.

Globalization leads to serious risks to the environment, alien species and the reckless use of natural resources threaten the biodiversity of our territories, the Department of Agriculture is committed to combating these phenomena. In the morning near Ciusa Square in Carbonia (SU) an exhibition of equipment and samples related to research activities for monitoring and control of alien species. It was highlighted how research can enhance and protect the natural resources of the territory, from land use to endemic species. Workshops on alien species and biodiversity protection were conducted during the afternoon at Conca is Ollastus, in the hamlet of Barbusi, Carbonia (SU), where there is an endangered plant species, the Balearic boxwood (Buxus balearica).
