Remote Digital Signature

The remote digital signature service allows digitally signing documents and is the electronic equivalent of the traditional handwritten signature on paper.

The digital signature has the following characteristics:

  • Authenticity: ensures the identity of the signatory
  • Integrity: assures that the document has not been modified after signing
  • Legal validity: confers full legal validity to the signed document.

How to request remote signature from ArubaPEC

In accordance with the University regulations, the remote digital signature Arubapec is assigned to professors serving as examination committee chairs. For all other requests outside the regulations, it is necessary to forward the request to the office manager.

For professors serving as examination committee chairs, you can submit the request to the email rpiu@uniss.it, specifying your name, surname, affiliated department, and tax code to schedule an appointment. The issuance of the digital signature strictly takes place in person and with original identity documents, as specified in the agreement with ARUBAPEC SpA (see attached recognition handbook).

Professors requesting the Remote Signature must have already activated the esse3/Exams and Appeals Management service (self-students) and therefore have a UNISS account.

Renewal of ArubaPec remote signature certificate.

Two months before the expiration of the digital signature certificate, ArubaPec sends a periodic notification email from the sender communications@staff.aruba.it, with the subject "Your Remote Digital Signature is expiring. Renew now!" addressed to the email_holder@uniss.it.

Upon receiving this notification, it is necessary to follow the instructions described in the email and complete the renewal request procedure no later than the expiration date indicated in the email.

The renewal request will subsequently be validated by the relevant office, following the verification of the requirements specified in the University regulations. The renewal of the signature certificate extends its validity for an additional 3 years starting from the day after the expiration date.

During the online procedure, you will be required to provide:

  • Information regarding your current residence
  • Sign the renewal request with the provided Remote Digital Signature.

At the end of the procedure, there is no need to communicate anything, contrary to what is stated in the email.
