International Credit Mobility (ICM)

International Credit Mobility Vietnam studentesse

International Credit Mobility (ICM) is a measure under Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ Programme, KA171, aimed at promoting the mobility of students, lecturers and staff to and from universities in EU and eligible Third Countries not associated with the Programme. The aim of this action is to attract students and lecturers to European universities, supporting them in competing on the global higher education market and, at the same time, widening the range of possible destinations for students and lecturers in Europe with an opening towards countries in the rest of the world. Specifically, KA171 aims to promote exchanges with universities located in one of the Programme Partner Countries in order to:

  • To improve the internationalisation process and the appeal of the institutions involved;
  • To foster the acquisition of transversal skills (language, digital), which are strategic for the labour market;
  • To foster the professional development of the participants;
  • To contribute to the modernisation of teaching and the renewal of the study programmes of the participating universities;
  • To improve the quality of higher education systems.

Eligible activities

The following activities are eligible under KA171:

  • Mobility for study: aimed at carrying out full-time study activities (including thesis research) that allow the transfer of credits from the partner university.
  • Mobility for traineeship: aimed at carrying out practical activities at institutions/entities located in the partner country.
  • Mobility for teaching: aimed at carrying out teaching activities at the partner university.
  • Mobility for staff training: aimed at carrying out training activities at the partner university.

Only some of the activities mentioned above may be planned for each project (see the Calls & Grants section for more information).

To participate in the Programme, read the calls for grants and check the eligibility requirements.

Outgoing mobility

UNISS students and staff wishing to undertake mobility under the ICM programme should take a look at the projects currently active and apply under the dedicated calls for applications.

Incoming mobility

Incoming students and staff from partner universities selected to carry out a mobility programme under Erasmus ICM and officially appointed by their home university will be contacted by the UNISS Mobility and International Relations Office for the drafting of the documentation and the mobility agreement.

Setting up collaborations within the ICM

The teaching staff interested in submitting mobility projects under KA171 should contact the Mobility and International Relations Office for guidance on the drafting of the content required in the application and for the necessary administrative support. The verification of projects and their submission through the university application system is the responsibility of the above-mentioned Office and takes place within the deadlines set annually by the EACEA within the Erasmus+ Call.
