Intellectual Property

The University of Sassari, through the Patent Commission, which outlines its policies, promotes and encourages the protection of Intellectual Property of the results of research carried out within it.

The notion of intellectual property includes:

  • works of creative genius protected by copyright (literary, artistic, and scientific works, software, databases, ...);
  • distinctive signs, such as trademarks, firm, insignia, geographical or appellations of origin, etc.;
  • technical and design innovations such as inventions, know-how, new species of plants, designs and models protected by patent law.

The Office of Third Mission and Territory, also using expert advice, supports researchers and staff of the University in choosing the best form of protection and throughout the process necessary to achieve it.
