Italian tax code

Students on international mobility are required to have an Italian tax code, a national identification code that is the result of a formula applied to a person's name, date and place of birth. Possession of the Italian tax code is mandatory for a number of activities, such as accessing the canteen service, opening an Italian bank account, buying a SIM card for a mobile phone, requesting the connection of utilities, renting a property for more than 30 days, etc.

The tax code must be requested at the Italian embassy or consulate in one's own country before departure and the start of the mobility. Students must send a copy of it to the Mobility and International Relations office.

Please note that the tax code entered automatically by the university IT system is not valid. Only embassies and consulates or inland revenue agencies located on Italian territory can issue valid tax codes.
