Health care

Students from EU countries can have access to free medical assistance directly at the National Health Service facilities. Students from non-EU countries which benefit from a scholarship funded by the Italian government will be granted free access to health care for the whole duration of their stay in Italy.

Health Care Service for foreign students
The University also provides a Health Care Service for Incoming Students in collaboration with the Regional Agency for Universities Studies (ERSU). The Hall of Residence located in Via Padre Manzella, hosts a unit where free medical care is provided to students enrolled at the University of Sassari. The health care centre is open Monday to Friday, from 4pm to 6pm, and it provides general medical examinations or prescription for specialist medical services, performed at the clinical facilities of the University Hospital. The health care centre may also issue sports medical certificates.

If a non-EU student would like to be assisted by the National Health Service, the following documents must be provided:

  • Residence permit;
  • Self-certification of actual residence and of not having income other than scholarships or grants;
  • Receipt of payment of the € 149.77 fee. The fee must be paid to Postal Account no. 490094, “REGIONE AUTONOMA DELLA SARDEGNA Causale contributo al S.S.N. anno _________ (add year of reference).” The payment is valid for one calendar year (January 1 to December 31) and cannot be divided into multiple installments.
