The chemistry on stage: from Lucrezio to Shakespeare, from Mendeleev to Goethe!

Chemistry is not only formulas and reactions: it is also a language of images, symbols and stories of our life and that of the universe. From the gold of the myths to the silver of the poems, from the lead of the shakes of Shakespeare to the iron that flows in our blood, from the mercury of the chapel to the radio of Marie Curie, the elements of the periodic table have always inspired literature and art. 
Chemistry enters the novels, verses and metaphors, turns into imagination and cultural symbol, chemistry explains the past and makes us imagine the future. Famous examples such as that of Primo Levi and its periodic system up to the futuristic suggestions of H. G. Wells, together with references in the art of Raffaello and Caravaggio will show how the periodic table can be read as a great story: an intertwining between scientific knowledge and human creativity. Because chemistry is not only a technical discipline, but is an integral part of culture and collective memory.
