Request the budget for research activities The research budget is a fundamental tool for supporting doctoral students in their training, promoting the quality and effectiveness of their academic and scientific activities. The main aspects concerning the nature, purpose and use of this budget are described below.Budget amountEach PhD student benefits from an budget, for the entire three-year period, equal to 10% of the amount of the scholarship, as provided for by Ministerial Decree 226/2021. For the academic year 2024/2025, the amount has been set at € 4,872.00.Purpose of the BudgetThe budget is intended exclusively to cover expenses strictly necessary for the performance of research activities, in line with the Doctoral student's training project. Eligible expenses (summarised in the document at the end of the page) include:Participation in educational and training activities: courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, both in Italy and abroad, including related registration fees.Travel and stays: accommodation, meals and means of transport for research missions, in accordance with the Missions Regulations in force.Purchase of goods and services: materials and services required for study and research activities.Scientific publications: costs related to the publication of articles or other scientific products in which the PhD student is the sole or first author.Organisation of academic events: lectures, conferences or seminars, including travel, board and lodging expenses of invited speakers.Limits and RestrictionsThe budget may not be used to purchase inventory. Any expenditure must be strictly pertinent to the research project and approved by the PhD student's Supervisor, who assesses the necessity and relevance of the request.Utilisation ProcedureIn order to use the budget, PhD students must follow these steps:Submission of the request: fill in the form provided, specifying the nature of the expenditure and its link with research activities (where required by the enrolling PhD Course).Supervisor approval: each request must be approved by the Supervisor, who verifies the consistency of the expenditure with the research project.Departmental authorisation: the request must be forwarded to the relevant Department for final authorisation and processing of the relevant expenditure. Mobility and International OpportunitiesThe budget may be used to support periods of study or research abroad, subject to the approval of the Doctoral Course Coordinator and in compliance with any reporting constraints set out in the Mobility Programme.
