The European University Alliance EUNICoast

EUNICOast

The EUNICoast alliance is composed of 13 universities located in coastal and island areas stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, including the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Caribbean, and the borders of the Arctic Ocean. It involves a total of 100,000 students and approximately 10,000 faculty and administrative staff.

EUNICoast's main objectives are:

  • To educate the next generation of aware European students and citizens.
  • To foster a multicultural, multilingual, and inclusive European environment for education, research, and innovation.
  • To enhance the partner universities' ability to address the specific social and environmental challenges faced by island and coastal communities, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, depopulation, migration, and the need for economic diversification.

The alliance aims to develop innovative educational pathways closely linked to research and local territories.

As part of EUNICoast, UNISS will coordinate public engagement and internationalization activities. This project places UNISS among one of the 64 alliances of universities and higher education institutions funded by the Erasmus+ program, involving over 560 academic institutions across Europe.
