The CILS certification

The CILS - Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera issued by the University for Foreigners of Siena, is an officially recognized qualification that declares the level of linguistic-communicative competence in Italian as a foreign language.

The University of Sassari, thanks to its agreement with the University for Foreigners of Siena, serves as an exam center for obtaining the CILS certification.

The CILS exam is available for all six levels of linguistic-communicative competence of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages):

CILS UNO-B1 CITIZENSHIP*
CILS DUE-B2
CILS TRE-C1
CILS QUATTRO-C2

The CILS UNO-B1 CITIZENSHIP exam is intended for those applying for Italian citizenship and is ONLY valid for obtaining citizenship. It does not cover work and academic purposes.
