Educational and training activities

Here you can find out about the training activities and events that the various PhD Courses Uniss offer doctoral students and the common activities of the Uniss PhD School.

Participation in the activities entails the achievement of CFRs useful for obtaining the PhD. The CFRs awarded are indicated in each proposed event. To find out how the credit system works, consult the scheme on this page.

Participation in Uniss PhD Course activities is open to PhD students of all Courses: if the topic of the event is interesting, everyone can take part and obtain the relative CFRs. The participation of everyone also to activities not strictly related to their own Course is encouraged by the PhD School in order to foster the meeting between PhD students, the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinarity.

The calendar is updated once a week, while daily updated activities can be found on the Uniss Web Agenda.

Introductory Course in Scientific Research

The Introductory Course in Scientific Research is a joint activity of the Uniss PhD School reserved for first- and second-year PhD students.

The first-year course is divided into four modules:

  1. THE PHD: PRESENTATION AND OPPORTUNITIES
  2. DEFINING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
  3. THE COMPONENTS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
  4. BECOMING A RESEARCHER

It offers doctoral students a complete overview of the tools they need to develop and make the most of their research work, spanning the various disciplinary areas covered by the 10 Uniss doctorates, also favouring the interdisciplinary nature of the topics.

The second-year course focuses on the topic:

  • THE DOCTORAL THESIS AND THE FUTURE

The course makes it possible to achieve the 6 CFR (minimum) required by regulations for first-year doctoral students, and the 2 CFR (minimum) required for second-year doctoral students, in activities organised by the school.

(1 CFR is achieved following 5 hours of lectures)
