Il Corso di laurea in Mediazione linguistica e culturale (L-12) offre due curricula differenti.

Il curriculum Studi interlinguistici e interculturali verte in maniera prevalente sulla mediazione linguistica e culturale; il curriculum Traduzione linguistica e letteraria offre competenze nell’ambito della traduzione. 

Obiettivo del corso è fornire gli strumenti teorico-pratici per orientarsi nella comunicazione interlinguistica e della traduzione, potenziando le competenze relative alla lingua italiana e sviluppando quelle relative ad almeno due lingue straniere. 

Mediazione (e quindi anche traduzione), lingue, culture: questi termini chiave compresi nella dicitura del corso ne indicano anche gli obiettivi: formare professioniste e professionisti in grado di interagire con competenza, prontezza e pertinenza nei diversi contesti comunicativi multiculturali della società contemporanea globalizzata e di sviluppare un approccio critico sulle sue questioni più urgenti e complesse.

I percorsi formativi dei due curricula comprendono almeno due lingue straniere a scelta tra inglese, francese, tedesco, spagnolo, russo e cinese, materie linguistiche e letterarie; materie sociologiche, pedagogiche e filosofiche; discipline storiche e storico-artistiche e informatica.

Professional status.
Language mediator in multicultural contexts.
The main work areas in which the language and cultural mediator is able to practice are those related to cultural services in agencies and institutions (public and private, national and international), publishing, tourism, Italian and foreign companies and businesses. After maturing further educational and work experience, other job outlets include journalism, translation, interpreting, and language education. Another outlet of choice is enrollment in a master's degree that allows for further study of the skills acquired. This may in turn allow master's degree graduates who will have sufficient credits in appropriate groups of fields to participate in the admission tests for secondary education training paths, as provided for in current legislation.
Prevalent professional figures - intercultural mediator, including in migration contexts; - operator in the fields of cultural services and institutions, journalism and publishing, with special skills in the use of digital tools; - international relations operator in Italian and foreign enterprises and companies; - operator in the field of tourism, with special reference to cultural tourism; - language assistant in the contexts of public and private companies, agencies or institutions, including through translation activities; - language and cultural assistant in the field of language training and education; - translator and interpreter, subject to completion of the training course, in relation to current regulations; - foreign language teacher in primary and secondary schools, or of Italian for foreigners, subject to completion of the training course, in relation to current regulations.

Skills associated with the function
Language mediator in multicultural contexts. 
The graduate knows how to manage interpersonal communication contexts involving, among other things, the preparation of documents using sectorial languages, the ability to draft letters in a foreign language, to take notes in a foreign language, and to navigate the use of digital tools. He or she can also make use of his or her interdisciplinary background in order to personally use (or teach it to others) the linguistic structures he or she has mastered through his or her studies in the LSC, finalizing these structures for institutional-business-cultural relations with foreign countries in the various multi-ethnic and multicultural contexts in which he or she may find himself or herself operating, both in Italy and abroad.
Function in a work context
The graduate is usually able to perform tasks related to linguistic and interlinguistic communication and intermediation, oral and written, in at least two foreign languages in addition to Italian. This makes the graduate particularly well suited to work with those in management and organizational roles in their respective fields of work.
Specific learning outcomes

The CdS in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation aims to combine the qualifying educational objectives of the class (as they have been set at the ministerial level) with the specific needs of the territory (that of the Sassari area and, more generally, of North Sardinia), offering a rich educational path divided into three curricula. Specific educational objectives There are two fundamental educational objectives of the CdS.
One is to ensure that graduate students have a firm grasp and versatile competence in at least two foreign languages, along with an increased oral and written command of the Italian language; the other is to develop a strong competence related to the cultures that vivify the foreign languages studied and the Italian language. These fundamental objectives are functional to the creation of a specific professional profile that allows the graduate to exploit the skills acquired to enter the labor market by grasping not only the economic potential inherent in the territory, but also those present on the international level.
Description of the educational pathway
Regarding the more properly linguistic part of the educational offer that the CdS proposes to the students, in addition to the main foreign languages spoken in Europe and the Americas, the CdS offers a training path in Chinese language and culture that enables students to interact and communicate not only at an international level (given the growing importance of China in world markets) but also at a local level (given the presence of a growing Chinese community in the territory of North Sardinia). Also with a view to better meet the needs of the area, the CdS also offers a training course in Catalan language, which is very important to enhance and revitalize the linguistic-cultural heritage typical of the Alghero area. In this regard, it should also be emphasized, on the one hand, that the skills that can be acquired through the study of French language and culture make it possible to interact and communicate with the growing share in northern Sardinia of immigrants from African nations where French is a customary means of linguistic mediation (the growing needs of the immigration desk of the Sassari municipality are but one testimony among many), and, on the other hand, that the skills that can be acquired through the study of the Russian language enable graduates to intercept the flow of tourists from Russia by exploiting this mediation for work and economic purposes. With regard to the more properly cultural part of the educational offerings, in addition to offering educational paths centered on the cultures that enliven the foreign languages studied, the CdS has taken special care in enhancing the historical, social and cultural dynamics that have shaped North-Sardinia over the centuries: hence the introduction of teachings that take into account Greek civilization, Roman history, sociology of interethnic relations, social anthropology, and the study of Sardinian minority languages. The aforementioned goal of enabling the graduate student to enter the job market with adequate skills related to both the local and international situation is achieved through teachings related to business economics, geopolitics, information technology, geographic-economic composition of the world, etc. Finally, in the awareness that making all this possible requires the development of considerable human and intellectual sensitivity, the CdS provides training courses related to Italian literature, foreign literatures, comparative literatures, literary criticism, philosophical reflection, contemporary arts, and cinema.
As can be seen from a glance at the table of educational activities, the above-mentioned objectives are achieved, starting from the 1st year of the course, thanks to the in-depth study, both practical and theoretical, of two foreign languages in addition to Italian. In the following years, in addition to the strengthening of linguistic structures and theoretical-cultural reflection, the objectives are achieved through lectures, tutorials, seminars and various collateral contextual activities (participation in conferences, cultural film club in foreign languages, plenary lectures, interactive study days), which enable the acquisition of in-depth theoretical-practical knowledge related to the contextualization of the studied languages and their cultures.
