The University of Sassari (UNISS), with its main headquarters in the heart of the city, extends its academic presence in several key locations in Sardinia, including Alghero, Olbia, Nuoro and Oristano .

With a student population that counts over 12,000 members , the University represents a fundamental educational reference point for the island and attracts students from all over Italy, thanks also to a teaching staff of over 650 professors and researchers .

The University is structured in 10 Departments which offer a wide range of training courses in both the humanities and sciences, delivered both in person and via distance learning (e-learning).

The training offer is wide and varied, divided into 61 degree courses (three-year and master's degrees), among which they stand out six international master's degrees . The postgraduate offer also includes first and second level master's degrees, numerous specialization schools (with a wide choice of internships in medical disciplines) and research doctorate courses.

In support of teaching and innovation, the University boasts over 40 research centers interdisciplinary and a library system composed of 12 libraries .

Strongly projected towards the international dimension, the University of Sassari maintains cooperation and mobility relationships, such as the Erasmus+ programme, with approximately 500 partner universities all over the world.

Sassari and Sardinia

The main headquarters of the University is located in Sassari, the main city in northern Sardinia, with a population of approximately 130,000 inhabitants. It is the second largest city on the island and has significant economic, political and cultural importance.

Sassari is located on a limestone plateau, about ten kilometers from the sea, at an altitude of 225 meters above sea level, on the edge of the plain that slopes towards the sea of ​​Porto Torres. The area enjoys a mild and temperate climate all year round.

Sardinia is an Italian island located in the Mediterranean Sea, with approximately 2000 kilometers of coastline characterized by sandy beaches, and a mountainous hinterland crossed by numerous hiking trails.
