Foreign PhD students - FAQ

The only valid one is that issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate and serves for request residence; enroll in the National Health System; receive the health card and choose the doctor; hiring at work; to start self-employment activity; open a current account; make the declaration of income etc. To request it, non-EU citizens must present the residence permit and a photocopy of the valid passport.

With the tax code issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate the citizen can and must register with the National Health System, request the health card
which gives the right to health care throughout the national territory and to choose the family doctor. The card is personal. If the card is lost or not
receive it is possible to request the duplicate in any agency office of the Agenzia delle Entrate or by connecting to the site of the Agenzia delle Entrate.

Foreign citizens who come to Italy for business, tourism, study, etc. must present yourself at the Police Headquarters. For the issue or renewal of the permit or card stay you must pick up the postal kit, fill it out (with the documents required according to the type of permit required) and return it to the offices postal services.
Not for all types of permit or residence card is necessary to complete the kit, some can be requested (release and renewal) directly at the Police Headquarters.
Who is already in Italy and has the expiring permit must request the renewal from 60 days before 60 days after the expiry date.
