Il Corso di Laurea in Economia e management del turismo intende fornire una conoscenza approfondita del settore turistico, attraverso la comprensione delle dinamiche aziendali, economiche, giuridiche e quantitative che caratterizzano la realtà del mercato, l’organizzazione dei servizi, l’amministrazione delle imprese e degli enti, il management dei sistemi di offerta turistica, la gestione della destinazione, la valorizzazione dei beni e delle risorse, le scelte dei consumatori e l’andamento dei flussi turistici.
Il corso di laurea intende formare figure professionali in grado di rispondere efficacemente alle esigenze del mercato del lavoro e di inserirsi con successo nelle aziende private, negli enti pubblici e nelle altre organizzazioni pubbliche e private che operano nel settore del turismo.

Outline, texts and goals

This degree grants access to all the degree courses of the 2° cycle, 
including the first level university masters
Professional status.
The degree course aims to train professionals able to respond effectively to the needs of the labour market and to integrate successfully in private companies, public authorities and in other public and private organizations working in the field of tourism.
The course also provides students with tools, methods and skills needed to give life to the creation of new businesses in the tourism or to continue their studies in business and economics with a view to access the professional world .
The degree course aims to build a solid cultural background and adapted to the multi-disciplinary training of graduates able to cover in a variety of public and private institutions of roles and functions of study, analysis, management and consulting in the tourism sector or, alternatively, to continue their studies as part of the first level master courses or advanced degrees and second level master suitable in several classes. In particular, the degree course enables graduates to gain experience and training to acquire skills expendable in the various areas in which they operate tourism businesses and professionals , with particular reference to the activities of the organization and intermediation of travel (travel agencies, tour operators, media companies, enterprises operating in the electronic distribution and web marketing) and the provision of accommodation services (hotels, transport companies, cruise companies, catering companies and catering, charter companies and shipyards recreational boating , beach resort, but also professionals, organizers of conferences, exhibitions and events, just to remember some of the figures).
At the same time, the skills acquired during the study course, will enable graduates to act as consultants or to hold positions of responsibility in public bodies (municipalities, provinces and regions, but also wildlife parks and marine protected areas, chambers of commerce) and in other public and private organizations (local tourist systems, trade associations, tourist associations, non-profit organizations ), dealing with the organization , planning , promotion and development of the tourism market.
In this perspective, the degree course is aimed primarily at providing students with a wide range of skills - that can be spent in different organizational contexts of private and public – relating also to the business organization and human resources, marketing strategies and the management of tourism systems, marketing, tourism and destination management, electronic distribution and revenue management of family firms and management control. The degree also offers a range of services, aimed at facilitating the placement of graduates in businesses, government and in professions, while developing concrete actions and organizes projects to assist the process of start-up of  new businesses and initiatives for the creation of new firms by young graduates. Last but not least, graduates in economics and tourism businesses benefit from a preferential path for access to the professions of technical director of travel agency and tourism and tourist guide, according to the new rules of registration to the relevant regional registers established by the Sardinian Region 18th of December 2006 n. 20.

The student in Tourism Economics and Business Administration:
-is aware of the economic, business, institutional and quantitative dynamics of the tourism sector 
- owns appropriate skills that allow him to intervene in the managerial, economic and financial planning of the tourism enterprises and in the definition of public policies of the tourism sector and related industries;
-has a deep knowledge and adequate mastery of the tools, systems and processes of tourist enterprises, public administration and other bodies and organizations operating in tourism, in a strongly focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness perspective of private and public actions;
- understands the problems and dynamics of the tourism sector, the ability to translate consumers’ needs  and tourists’ behaviour, coupled with the ability to contribute to the planning process of public policies
-holds the specific knowledge and skills related to information systems, electronic distribution and revenue management, the use of new technologies, marketing and financial tools needed to seize the opportunities offered by the tourism sector.

The aforementioned skills and abilities are achieved through lectures, tutorials, workshops, business seminars and visits, which also include critical discussion moments on the various topics, the use of cases and elements taken from reality, as well as through supervised home study, required by the course units.
The achievement of the previous learning outcomes are tested via oral and/or written examinations, written exercises and other approaches to evaluation (criteria, participation in workshops, discussion of case studies, individual research and group), as well as the discussion of the topic which is the subject of the final examination, possibly supported by a written paper, a project work developed within the company or from the result of the activity performed during an internship.
Applying knowledge and understanding.

Graduates in Tourism Economics and Business Administration:
-are able to apply the analytical, methodological and interpretative economic tools to the tourism market 
-have strong managerial competences useful to manage tourism enterprises, tourism systems, organization of services, creation of tourism products, management of tourist destinations and the management of information systems, marketing and electronic distribution, planning of tourist flows and data analysis.
-will learn at least one EU language, especially English in order to improve the students international work opportunities. 

Thanks to the constant help provided by lecturers and instructors, the acquired knowledge is achieved via lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops and other activities related to the courses program .
The achievement of learning outcomes is obtained through written and / or individual/ collective works. The Master's dissertation and the internship provide a further opportunity to assess the learning outcomes.

The Degree in Tourism Economics and Business Administration allows the acquisition of basic general and specific skills in business and an interdisciplinary education in the economic, legal and quantitative fields.
In particular, the degree in Tourism Economics and Business Administration provides deep knowledge that allows future graduates to work as a manager both in public and private tourism companies, and to apply to excellent masters worldwide.
Graduates will have specific knowledge and competences in several context, such as:
-organization and travel intermediation (travel agencies, tour operators, media companies, companies operating in the electronic distribution and web marketing, for example) 
-accommodation services (hotels, transport companies, cruise companies , catering companies and catering, charter and yachting companies, but also professionals, event planners).
- managerial roles in public bodies (municipalities, provinces and regions, but also natural parks and marine protected areas, chambers of commerce, and other public entities), and other public and private bodies (local tourist systems, associations category, tourism associations, non-profit, such as organizations) which promote and develop the tourism sector.

The Degree in Tourism Economics and Business Administration provides multisciplinary competences related to business organization and human resources management, business strategy, tourism marketing and management, revenue management.
Specific learning outcomes

The degree course in Economics and tourism businesses aims to provide a thorough understanding of the tourism industry, by understanding the dynamics of the business, economic, legal and quantitative information that characterizes the reality of the market, the organization of services, management of companies and institutions, management of the systems offered, destination of  management, the valuation of assets and resources, the choices of consumers and the development of tourist flows. The Degree, therefore, is aimed at young people interested in acquiring high professional skills and in-depth knowledge of the touristic system, with a view of a job placement in private companies or public institutions of primary importance; to them is given the opportunity to acquire specific skills in the field of tourism and the opportunity to have the methodological tools needed to successfully enter the labor market. Due to its interdisciplinary characteristics and the superior knowledge that  this degree course offers, it is directed to private and public operators in the tourism sector, interested in having new tools to correctly interpret the trends of development of tourism sector and adapt their skills to the best of our knowledge at the time, giving new managerial competitiveness of private enterprise and by providing new growth opportunities in the region. On the fundamentals a wealth of knowledge is focused on the study, with a view both corporate and economic, of the various tourist activities that present organizational, brokerage or provision of services, as well as the action of the institutions and organizations that deal with planning and organization of the markets and tourist facilities.  A non marginal attention is paid to those profiles that present environmental connection with the phenomenon of tourism, with particular reference to those forms of tourism in which the sustainability of socio-economic and natural resources play a primary role. 
The training process can be completed by an internship to be performed in an industry, in private companies or public bodies, able to allow the practical application of methodological tools and knowledge acquired during the degree course.
