Scientific Dissemination, competition at the Uniss biomedical sciences department 25 July 2024 To promote scientific dissemination skills among its doctoral students and students, the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Sassari has organized a contest: the winner is Anna Boi, enrolled in the first year of the Doctoral School in Biomedical Sciences (neurosciences address) , who presented his research on tailored rehabilitation in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. The competition included an online phase on the department's social channels and an in-person phase, which experienced the crucial moment in the final staged in recent days in the main hall of the Faculty of Medicine.The other finalists were Marco Morrone, first year doctoral student in the school of Biomedical Sciences, neuroscience specialization, which deals with the evaluation of motor performance in athletes; Antonella Congiargiu, third year PhD student in the school of Life Science and Biotechnologies, who deals with the identification of biomarkers for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer; Ilaria Deplano, graduated in Biology, who carried out her internship in the Population Genetics laboratory and studied the dynamics of protozoan infection in the mollusk Pinna nobilis; Martina Meloni, third year doctoral student in the school of Biomedical Sciences specializing in neuroscience, engaged in research on the impact of open-air sporting activity on healthy aging and in patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.Two very competent and nationally known science communicators participated remotely in the evening: Francesco Tomasinelli (La Rivista della Natura, Focus, Touring and Geo) and Samuele Negro (samu_scientist on social media, 51 thousand followers on Instagram).The contest, organized by the Department's Communication Commission and coordinated by Professor Matteo Floris, was created in collaboration with MDPI, Zanicchelli and Edises who made the prizes available: 300 euros for the first place and two ebooks for the others. The other partners of the event are the Luigi Canepa Music Conservatory of Sassari, with the guitarist Nicolò Medina, the Obinu cellars of Flussio and the Pinna dairy.
