Incoming Erasmus KA171 Mobility 22 October 2024 From October 1 to 18, 2024, the Department of Veterinary Medicine hosted, as part of the Erasmus KA171 program, Professors Gonzalo Gaston Crosi Martinez and Lucia Trujillo Iglesias from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay) for teaching and training activities. These represent the longest mobilities carried out so far within the Erasmus KA171 projects.During the mobility period, the Uruguayan professors conducted seminars for students and doctoral candidates from the department and visited the Zooprophylactic Institute of Sardinia and the Mollusk Purification Center "Olbia Mitili" in Olbia. The mobilities were particularly fruitful, as they allowed the professors to compare the organization of official food controls adopted in EU countries with the Uruguayan context and to learn new techniques related to the quantitative determination of histamine and the identification of microplastics in fishery and aquaculture products. The activities of the Uruguayan professors were coordinated by the departmental project coordinator, Prof. Domenico Meloni. The University of Sassari has been collaborating with the Universidad de la República for some time, and in 2020, as part of the Erasmus KA171 program, a mobility project involving faculty and staff from the Department of Economic and Business Sciences was funded.Erasmus KA171 projects, which promote and fund mobility to/from universities in non-associated third countries, further enrich the exchange mobility opportunities for students and staff at the participating institutions. The Erasmus+ Program continues to be a valuable tool for promoting the internationalization of institutions, enabling the learning of innovative methodologies and teaching approaches, the acquisition of strategic skills, the exchange of best practices in various professional fields, and the strengthening of international collaborations.
