Enhancement of social skills in autism spectrum disorder 7 October 2024 << Segui la diretta dell'evento >>PRESS RELEASEFrom an important research work developed between the Child Neuropsychiatry of the University Hospital of Sassari and the Ets Social Network Institute of Rome, a "Study on the enhancement of social skills in autism spectrum disorder" was born, the the results of which will be presented on Friday 11 October at 10.00 am, in the Aula Magna of the University of Sassari.The project, promoted by the Rotary Club Sassari Nord with the financial contribution of the Sardinia Foundation, also involves the University of Sassari and the Giuliaparla Cooperative of Rome. Special guest will be Stefano Vicari, director of the Complex Operational Unit of Child Neuropsychiatry at the Bambin Gesù Children's Hospital in Rome.Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a widespread neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by repetitive behaviors and persistent difficulties in communication and social interaction. The prevalence in the growing phase highlights the importance of early and personalized interventions. The study focuses on the Social Skills SSG (social skills training), an intervention aimed at improving social skills in relational and instrumental contexts, with the aim of reducing the severity of ASD symptoms. The intervention takes place in a natural environment involving family and school, and includes structured activities such as sports and horticulture, as well as continuous training of operators and teachers.The institutional greetings will be extended by the Magnificent Rector Gavino Mariotti, the Mayor of Sassari Giuseppe Mascia, the health director of the Aou of Sassari, Lucia Anna Mameli, the president of the Sardinia Foundation, Giacomo Spissu, the president of the Rotary Club Sassari Nord, Giuseppe Satta and past president Alessandra Cuccu, promoter of the initiative. Journalist Salvatore Taras moderates the meeting.The proceedings will be opened by Stefano Sotgiu, director of the complex operational unit of Child Neuropsychiatry of the University Hospital of Sassari; Stefano Vicari, director of the complex operational unit of Child Neuropsychiatry at the Bambin Gesù Children's Hospital (OPBG) in Rome, will speak about the genesis of "Social Skills"; The project and preliminary results will be presented by Alessandra Carta, scientific director of the project and child neuropsychiatrist of the University Hospital of Sassari, and Arianna Madrau, medical director of the Uonpia of the ASL of Sassari.Among the doctors and specialists will also be present: Salvatorica Manca, head of the complex structure of child neuropsychiatry (Uonpia) of the ASL of Sassari, Lucia Porcu, Simona Levanto and Paolo De Stefani, Flavia Pulina, Marialuisa Maiorano and Marco Pistidda.
