University of Belgrade Meets the Rector of the University of Sassari 23 June 2023 This morning, Professor Gavino Mariotti, the Rector of the University of Sassari, welcomed the Rector of the University of Belgrade, Professor Vladan Djokic, at the Rectorate.During the visit, the two rectors ratified a comprehensive international collaboration agreement for educational and scientific purposes. This agreement could lead to individual projects shared by different departments. In the afternoon, representatives from the University of Sassari and the Serbian university will engage in discussions to propose targeted ideas on how to continue collaboration in interdisciplinary areas of interest for both institutions.The Serbian delegation includes, in addition to the Rector, Professor Nebojsa Bojovic, Dean of the Faculty of Transport Engineering; Professor Milorad Mirilovic, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Zoran Djukanovic, Professor of Architecture; Aleksandra Buha Djordjevic, Professor of Pharmacy; and Ivan Rakoniac, National Director of the Technological Innovation Fund for Serbia. Following today's meeting in Sardinia, there will be an official visit by the University of Sassari to the University of Belgrade.The idea originated from the collaboration between Roberto Madeddu - a professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Sassari and the Rector's delegate for relations with Serbia – and Professor Buha Dordevic, who initiated some Erasmus agreements for student and faculty exchange."For the University of Sassari, this new collaboration represents a further expansion of the international perspective, enriching the opportunities for students, faculty, researchers, and staff," stated Gavino Mariotti.Founded in 1808, the University of Belgrade is one of the largest, oldest, and most renowned in the Balkans. Like the University of Sassari, it is a comprehensive university spanning various fields of knowledge with a long history and tradition.
