Trilly's magic for the smile 31 October 2024 PRESS RELEASESASSARI. A smile can sometimes make all the difference in the world. From this simple idea was born the project "The magic of Tinker Bell for the smile", which will be presented on Wednesday 6 November at 3.30 pm in the main hall of the University of Sassari. It is an open economic desk that intends to support students whose lives have been turned upside down by the diagnosis and treatment for cancer. The "Andreuccia Pruneddu" fund, which amounts to 25 thousand euros, will support them in the purchase of wigs and, in a broader sense, beauty treatments capable of helping them feel more confident in their appearance. This is an element that will contribute to breaking down at least part of the barriers between these students and the rest of the academic community, thanks precisely to the magic of a smile, in which the Magnificent Rector Gavino Mariotti believes very much. The University has already been engaged for years in specific activities to support students with disabilities and DSA, therefore it could not remain indifferent to the problems of students fighting against an oncological disease. The fund is named after Andreuccia Pruneddu, who passed away in April 2024, a student who always lived university life actively through attendance and associations, who graduated with excellent results despite the treatments she underwent for a brain tumor .The presentation will be attended by the Rector, professors Corrado Rubino (Plastic Surgery), Francesco Bussu (Otolaryngology), Giuseppe Palmieri (Medical Oncology), Maria Lucia Piga (General Sociology), Alessandra Nivoli (Psychiatry). There will also be Loredana Pau,national vice president of "Europa donna Italia", and Camilla Colorito, author of "The girl with the turban".The event will be broadcast live via web streaming on the university website www.uniss.it.
