The Right to Education in Prisons 7 July 2025 The right to education in penitentiary institutions is a cause that is deeply valued by the University of Sassari, which is actively involved through a prison university center (Polo Universitario Penitenziario, PUP) that boasts the highest percentage of incarcerated students in Italy.One of the partners in the project involving the University of Sassari is ERSU (Regional Agency for the Right to Education), which supports the initiative by providing funding for educational materials, two housing units for students serving external sentences, 280 free meals per year, and a dedicated officer for the PUP.In this context, on July 4th the President of ERSU Sassari, Daniele Maoddi, met with the Regional Ombudsperson for Prisoners, Irene Testa.The full story is available on the ERSU website.
