"Paul Harris Fellow" Award 18 June 2025 The Rotary Club Sassari Silki, in agreement with Rotary International, has conferred the Paul Harris Fellow upon Prof. Francesco Camoglio, Director of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic. This is the highest Rotary honor, reserved for individuals of undisputed excellence and high human and professional standing.The ceremony took place in the presence of the Rector of the University of Sassari, Prof. Gavino Mariotti, the Club President Lawyer Alessandro Fiori, Prof. Sergio Babudieri, Director of the Complex Infectious Diseases Unit, Prof. Giampiero Capobianco, Director of the Complex Gynecology and Obstetrics Unit, and a delegation of members. Visibly moved, Prof. Camoglio thanked Rotary for the recognition received.The motivation for the honor is based on Prof. Camoglio's dedication to pediatrics in Sardinia, where he established a scientific school of excellence at the University of Sassari, which quickly became a reference point in the field. His appointment to Sassari was strongly supported by Rector Mariotti himself, with the aim of strengthening the university's international role.Thanks to his research and clinical activity, Prof. Camoglio has ensured a tangible improvement in the health and living conditions of numerous young patients. His innovative and cutting-edge surgical techniques have rapidly eliminated waiting lists for pediatric surgery on the island, a result that demonstrates dedication, responsibility, and an extremely high sense of duty.Historically, the Paul Harris Fellow has been awarded to world-renowned heads of state, scientists, and artists, including former United States President Jimmy Carter, former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, conductor Riccardo Muti, and tenor Andrea Bocelli.
