Four medals for CUS Sassari at the 2024 National University Championships 4 June 2024 CAMPOBASSO. The CUS Sassari expedition to the 2024 National University Championships in Campobasso ends with 4 medals. The Sassari university students therefore replicate the good things done in 2023 by obtaining one gold, one silver and two bronzes. TaekwondoThe top step of the podium was won by Giulio Marzeddu in the freestyle taekwondo specialty, thus managing to improve on last year's second place. The class of '99, with a grade of 5.0, precedes Roberto Quarato of CUS Bari and Cosimo De Giosa of CUS Napoli. The same athlete from Sassari then finished in fifth place in the Forme specialty. Also in taekwondo, Sarah Longoni continues to win medals at the National University Championships (the third in a row). The university student from Sassari, in the forms specialty, obtained an important silver medal in Campobasso, demonstrating her great consistency. Longoni, protagonist last year also at the Chengdu Universiade, closes the Molise adventure behind Giuditta Carlini (CUS Bologna), while Vittoria Nuzzolese of CUS Milan closes on the podium. JudoAt her third participation in the National University Championships, in the -57kg category judo, Eleonora Piras, after defeating Giulia Barbieri (CUS Perugia), suffered a defeat against Angela De Nardi (CUS Trieste), but that was enough to win the bronze medal. Also in judo (-60 kg category), Mario Tanganya Aguiar Tuyenikumwe, comes close to a medal defeated by Francesco Troiano of CUS Napoli in the quarter-finals. Skeet shootingThe fourth Sassari medal comes thanks to Giovanni Spina's third place in clay shooting, who obtains a precious bronze at the TAV in San Giuliano del Sannio. The university student from Sassari ended his match with a good 87/100, just two targets behind Uberto Sergio Fongaro of CUS Padova and one target behind Pasquale Salinaro of CUS Lecce. AthleticsNo medals come from athletics, but the Sassari university students tried to give 100%, despite the strong competition. In the high jump, Camillo Delogu finished in seventh place; in the women's 5km race walk, however, sixth place finish for Chiara Rizzu, who can do nothing against Verdiana Casciotti, Lucia Barbarossa and Vittoria Bollano, respectively of CUS Roma, CUS Bari and CUS Torino. In the women's 100 and 200 meters, Evelin Tommasini's adventure ends in the heats. 11-a-side footballIn 11-a-side football, CUS Sassari's Molise adventure ends with two defeats.
