First graduates in Industrial Engineering at the University of Sassari

On Wednesday 22 October, in the teaching center in via Piandanna, the proclamation of the first degrees in Industrial Engineering of the University of Sassari. A significant moment for the Rector Gavino Mariotti and for the Engineering Department of the University of Sassari, directed by Professor Massimo Tistarelli, which saw the completion of the path inaugurated in the 2022/2023 academic year.

The first three graduates of the three-year course are Dario Pavarani , Laura Rotariu and Alessandro Lorenzoni , who obtained the title within the expected time frame, standing out for their commitment and preparation .

Dario Pavarani defended a thesis entitled “Recovery of waste heat from a cement plant for a thermochemical energy storage system”, speaker Professor Martino Marini (president of the degree course). 
Laura Rotariu presented the work “Integration of a thermochemical energy storage system in an industrial paper and cellulose plant”, with Professor Martino Marini as speaker. 
Finally, Alessandro Lorenzoni defended the thesis “Reliability of a markerless system for the analysis of upper limb movement during the motor task of throwing a ball”, under the supervision of Professor Andrada Pica.

The three recent graduates, in addition to standing out for their regular path and high performance, also successfully participated in an Erasmus study mobility in Northern Europe, confirming the international openness and educational solidity of the course.

The three-year degree course in Industrial Engineering at the University of Sassari currently has 61 students enrolled (data updated as of 30 September 2025) and prepares professional figures capable of operating in the sectors of mechanics, energy, automation and robotics, with skills ranging from design to production, from maintenance to the management of complex plants and systems. Graduates in Industrial Engineering can join manufacturing, energy and automation companies, but also develop their own entrepreneurial projects, contributing to the innovation of the regional and national production fabric.

With these first degrees, the University of Sassari celebrates an important milestone in the growth of its technical-scientific training offer, strengthening the role of the Engineering Department as a point of reference for the training of new skills at the service of industry and the territory.
