Conference of the Southern Ophthalmological Society with the patronage of Uniss 27 May 2025 PRESS RELEASECAGLIARI. The 58th Som- Southern Ophthalmology Society conference will be held on May 29 and 30 at the Chia Laguna conference center (Cagliari), under the patronage of the University of Sassari.This is the first National Congress for Ophthalmologists to be held in Sardinia in over 40 years.The S.O.M. is an association that brings together Ophthalmologists from all over the South as well as national professionals who meet to discuss ophthalmological innovations, eye diseases and related treatments. The conference will be chaired by Antonio Pinna, full professor of Visual System Diseases at the University of Sassari, and Professor Giuseppe Giannaccare from the University of Cagliari.Authoritative ophthalmologists recognized in Italy and abroad, directors of the major Italian, university and hospital hospitals will be present to discuss highly topical issues: medical and surgical treatment of ocular complications of diabetes and myopia. Inflammatory diseases, cataracts, glaucoma and last but not least vitreoretinal surgery will also be discussed.During the event, the Giuseppe Favaloro award will also be given, aimed at doctors in specialist training.The conference was accredited by the Ministry of Health for 100 Ophthalmologists, Nurses and Orthoptists. The event was awarded 8 training credits.
