Beneath the University, the city's history unfolds 16 June 2025 Archaeological discoveries of significant importance have emerged during the renovation work on the historic Palace of the University of Sassari, offering new perspectives on the city's history. A press conference to present these findings will be held on June 23rd at 11:30 AM at the Piazza Università location, followed by a preview visit to the construction site.Exceptionally, the area will be open to the public on June 24th and 25th, from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 2 PM to 4 PM, with controlled access to a section of the excavation.The investigations, conducted in collaboration with the Superintendency, have brought to light structures and materials dating between the Middle Ages and the Modern era, shedding new light on the origins of the Jesuit College, the original core of the University of Sassari.The artifacts will be studied and promoted through innovative dissemination tools, as part of a broader project for the recovery and understanding of Sassari's urban heritage.
