APEnet, Pier Andrea Serra new president 27 May 2025 The APEnet Members' Assembly, gathered in the Rectorate Palace of the University of Turin, elected the new board of directors that will lead the association for the next three years.The body will be composed of Irene Baldriga (University of Rome La Sapienza), Pier Andrea Serra (University of Sassari), Giorgio Chiarelli (INFN), Elisa Ascani, (University of Florence), Elisabetta Bani (University of Bergamo), Andrea Attanasio (University of Calabria), Valentina Lomi (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), Alessandro Zennaro (University of Turin) and Monica Guerra (University of Milan Bicocca).Pier Andrea Serra was appointed President of the board. The first Italian Manifesto of Public Engagement is born At the assembly of May 26, the APEnet-Italian Network of Universities and Research Institutions for Public Engagement association also officially presented the first Manifesto of Public Engagement.For the first time in Italy, 57 universities, research institutions, polytechnics and high schools have signed a common strategic document that recognizes Public Engagement – understood as public commitment, scientific dissemination and social valorization of research – as an integral part of the institutional mission of the knowledge system.The Manifesto outlines a shared vision, proposes concrete objectives and represents a fundamental step towards the recognition of the social role of universities, the strengthening of dialogue with society and the promotion of a new model of open, responsible and participatory research.Read the Manifesto
