The Aula Magna of the University of Sassari will host the international scientific event “The Tannin Afternoon”, organized under the patronage of the University, in the presence of the Magnificent Rector, Gavino Mariotti.

The meeting, broadcast live on youTube channel of the University of Sassari , will see the participation of world-renowned scholars who have contributed significantly to the development of scientific knowledge and investigation methods applied in various disciplinary fields.

“The tannin aftenoon” aims to be the first of a series of afternoons dedicated to knowledge, through the integration of different areas of applied research. In this first appointment, whose main theme is focused on tannins, the aspects that link the plant world to the animal world will be explored in depth, passing through the meanings that these have for vegetation and their role in the animal organism following ingestion, reaching primates and humans. In various respects, these molecules become a source of information for the explanation of many phenomena, which will be addressed by the speakers during the evening.

The theme of the initiative stands out for its strongly interdisciplinary approach, acting as a moment of discussion and in-depth analysis of interest to the entire academic community, both in the scientific and humanistic areas.

The speakers include leading names in international research: Professor Emeritus Mark Skinner from Simon Fraser University (British Columbia, Canada); Professor Emeritus Robert Hedges from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom); the Prof Sabine Aboling , former Visiting Professor at the University of Sassari, of Hannover University (Germany).

Professor Maria Grazia Cappai of the University of Sassari will introduce and coordinate the work, and will also present one of the scheduled scientific interventions.

The event is organized with the support of the sponsor SilvaTeam, a leading company in the natural tannins sector.
