“Mission Soil”: two days in Carbonia for soil health

Carbonia
- 09:30

The Department of Agriculture of the University of Sassari promotes two days dedicated to the health and protection of the soil in the Carbonia area, as part of the activities of the AGRITECH project and the European projects MONALISA and ECHO, in synergy with the European Mission "A Soil Deal for Europe" of the Horizon Europe programme. With the patronage of the Municipality of Carbonia (Department of the Environment), the collaboration of ASPAL Sardegna, Legambiente (Circolo Sulcis Iglesiente), AGESCI scout groups and ATHENA Civil Protection, the initiative aims to raise awareness among citizens, schools and associations on the importance of soil as a vital and non-renewable resource, involving the community in concrete actions of citizen science and environmental monitoring. Thanks to the synergy between AGRITECH, MONALISA and ECHO, the planned events allow scientific rigor to be combined with the practical involvement of the local community, strengthening "soil literacy" and the territorial rooting of the actions.

Plan:

Friday 7/11 – Cortoghiana pine forest

Treasure hunt on the ground.

Saturday 8/11 – Carbonia Pine Forest & Great Serbariu Mine

Workshops, sensory experiences and guided tours.

The activities are free and open to citizens, schools and associations. Participants will become true "Soil Heroes", collaborating with researchers and volunteers in collecting data and discovering soil as a life resource. Further information is available in the flyer.
