The Arborea Exhibition Center will host the final day of the AGRISTAR project – “Farmers and Researchers for Innovation, Sustainability and the Transformation of Companies in Resilient Environments” on Monday 3 November from 9:00 am, financed by sub-measure 16.5 of the PSR Sardinia 2014/2022.

The project

Promoted and coordinated by the agronomist Roberto Lai, the project is led by the Arborea Producers Cooperative supported by the University of Sassari (UNISS), the CMCC Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change Foundation, the Pinos Company and the Peterle Nursery. The objective of the initiative is to encourage the transfer of scientific knowledge and the application of innovative agronomic practices to increase carbon sequestration in soils and mitigate the effects of climate change. For the activities of the research institutions, the researcher Serena Marras (UNISS) and the researcher Valentina Mereu (CMCC) are the contacts, assisted by a large team, including professors Donatella Spano and Costantino Sirca for UNISS, professors Luigi Ledda, Paola Deligios and Dr. Matteo Funaro for CMCC.

The work of UNISS and CMCC researchers led to the definition of a protocol of sustainable agronomic practices, shared with local companies through a participatory co-creation process. The event will also see the participation of students from the "N. Pellegrini" Agricultural Technical Institute of Sassari and the Marrubiu-Arborea Comprehensive Institute, involved in the scientific orientation and dissemination process.

The “future in the field” educational game

During the morning, "Arborea - Il futuro in campo" will also be presented, an educational game created with the contribution of Demoela, which uses the metaphor of carbon credits to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable soil management. “AGRISTAR is a concrete example of collaboration between the world of production, research and training, and an important step towards a more innovative and resilient agriculture”, underline the promoters.
