Giordano Madeddu in the AIDS commission of the Ministry of Health 17 November 2025 With Ministerial Decree of 14 July 2025, Prof. Giordano Madeddu, Associate of Infectious Diseases at the University of Sassari, was appointed President of Section L of the Technical Health Committee (CTS), formerly the National AIDS Commission, a consultative body of the Ministry of Health which develops proposals and guidelines based on scientific evidence, analyzing the epidemiological, clinical and social-welfare changes linked to HIV infection in Italy. Section L of the CTS plays a central role in coordinating measures aimed at containing the spread of HIV, in monitoring the quality of healthcare for people with HIV and in identifying priorities for the development of innovative projects and therapies. Its skills also include the promotion of continuing medical education and the definition of guidelines for information and awareness campaigns. Section L is made up of 18 members of high scientific and clinical profile and the President coordinates their activities, ensures their coherence with the strategic lines of the Ministry and promotes a multidisciplinary approach to prevention and assistance policies. For the next three years, priority objectives include the approval of the National Action Plan to end HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections, the implementation of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), the simplification of testing and the strengthening of multidisciplinary management of people on antiretroviral therapy, including those in prison.
