A day dedicated to the culture of giving

On Wednesday 12 November, starting from 9.30 am, the Aula Magna of the University of Sassari (Piazza Università 21) will host the conference “Donation and lifestyles”: an initiative that reflects the university's intent to combine reflection, scientific dissemination and testimonies to promote a culture of giving and health as pillars of a more supportive and aware community.

The event was born as a community activation and social innovation project promoted by Glocal Association , in synergy with AIDO Sardinia (Italian Association for Organ Donation), the inter-municipal group AIDO Sassari-Ittiri and the CSV Sardinia (Volunteering Service Centre), with the patronage of Sport e Salute S. p. A . And of the University of Sassari .

The proceedings will open at 10.00 with institutional greetings from the Rector of the University of Sassari, Gavino Mariotti, from the representatives of the municipal administration of Sassari, from Roberto Simbula (President of AIDO Sardinia), Carlo Sanna (President of the Glocal Association) and Rossella Agabio (Sport and Health S. p. A. Official).

The first session will follow, from 10.30 to 11.45, dedicated to the theme “Donation and healthcare context”. Moderated by Alessandra Piredda, president of the AIDO Sassari-Ittiri intermunicipal group, the round table will host the interventions of Flavia Petrin (National AIDO President), Paolo Pettinao (Deputy Vice President AIDO Sardinia), Paola Murgia (AOU Sassari) and Lorenzo D'Antonio (Regional Transplant Center Sardinia). The discussion will focus on the role of healthcare institutions and associations in promoting the culture of donation, as an act of responsibility and civil solidarity.

The second session, scheduled from 11.45am to 1.15pm, will be dedicated to the theme “Lifestyles, sports, nutrition and testimonials” and will be moderated by Alessia Cosso of the Glocal Association. Speakers will include Lucia Coi (President of CSV Sardinia), Giovan Tommaso Murrighile (Professional Educator Ge.Na.), Giuseppe Manca (CONI Sassari Delegate), Pietro Fresu (Head of the Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases Unit – ASL 1 Sassari), Sara Cocciu (Paralympic athlete) and Matteo Sechi (nutritionist biologist). The session will offer insights into the link between well-being, prevention and active participation, with particular attention to the educational value of sport and balanced nutrition.

The morning will end with a debate open to the public and a space for discussion between speakers and participants, to share experiences and good practices.

Through the involvement of institutions, health professionals, the academic world and associations, “Donation and lifestyles” aims to strengthen the territorial network committed to the diffusion of healthy lifestyles, prevention and shared social well-being, promoting active participation and multidisciplinary collaboration.
