Progetto Telemacos_Uniss vince il Patien Engagement Award

In the third edition of Helaglobe's "Patient Engagement Award", the TELEMACO-S telemedicine project won second prize in the Empowerment category, dedicated to health, for its ability to generate a positive impact on people's lives. Last October 22, Dr. Valentina Micheluzzi – healthcare professional expert in telemedicine in the TELEMACO-S project for UNISS and AOUSS – received the award during the awards ceremony in Bologna.

The TELEMACO-S project is part of the Innovation Ecosystem for the Next Generation Sardinia e. INS financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

eINS has invested over 13 million euros in telemedicine as part of the Spoke 01 – A new path for preventive medicine: genomics, digital innovation and telemedicine , whose Strategic Committee is chaired by Prof Salvatore Masala and coordinated by Prof Francesco Cucca.

Under the scientific leadership of Professor Gavino Casu, Director of the School of Specialization in Cardiovascular Diseases, TELEMACO-S is a technology transfer project aimed at enhancing the integration between hospital and territory, and at creating new diagnostic-therapeutic-assistance paths closer to the needs of citizens. The initiative uses innovative digital technologies - such as wearable telemonitoring devices, artificial intelligence algorithms and augmented reality systems for telerehabilitation - to improve the quality of care and continuity of care.

Receiving the award as second best National Scientific Research Project represents a recognition of great value for the entire research team ” – commented Professor Gavino Casu. – “ A heartfelt thank you to the patients and their caregivers, who with their contribution made research truly centered on the needs of the person possible.
Thanks also to all the academic, administrative staff and researchers of our University, as well as to the institutional partners of the project, such as the AOU of Sassari, for their constant support. We will continue to work so that TELEMACO-S generates new scientific evidence to support the improvement of treatment pathways through the use of new technologies, with the aim of promoting access to treatment, improving therapeutic adherence and, consequently, the quality of life of people with chronic pathologies in Sardinia.
