Ceremony in memory of Bianca Ballabio at the University of Sassari

Bianca Ballabio

On Tuesday 28 October, the Rector Gavino Mariotti and the entire University of Sassari will remember Bianca Ballabio, a brilliant student of Medicine and Surgery who suddenly passed away 5 years ago at the age of 20.

Starting from 11.00, the historic Aula Magna will host an event in memory of that girl from Legnano who, after having completed all the first year exams in the Medicine degree course at the University of Sassari, was preparing to live a carefree summer. Then the tragedy: a car accident that took her away from her parents Michela Bonzi and Massimo Ballabio. Two people of great strength of mind who created the "Ballabio Foundation" in honor of their only daughter to perpetuate her memory and help other promising students like her.

Also this year the Foundation, with the contribution of the Rotary Club "Busto, Gallarate and Legnano Malpensa" chaired by Roberto Antonelli, will award a scholarship to a future doctor enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Sassari. For the 2024/2025 academic year, the call envisaged selecting a student enrolled in the sixth year based on merit. His name will be announced on October 28th during the event.

The ceremony will be attended by the Magnificent Rector Gavino Mariotti; Angela Spanu, Director of the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Pharmacy; Pietro Pulina, Pro-Rector of Uniss Teaching; Pier Paolo Terragni, President of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery; Carlotta Accolla, Student of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery. The University will give Bianca Ballabio's parents a certificate and a plaque engraved with the seal of the University of Sassari.
