Conoscere, controllare, comunicare Great Hall - University of Sassari 9 May 2024 16:00 The most recent national and European official reports depict a rapidly growing drug market that has not paused even during the Covid-19 health emergency. This growth has also been noted by the Social Observatory on Development and Crime in Sardinia (OSCRIM) at the University of Sassari, which has monitored the trend on the island over the past two decades and has led the multidisciplinary team of researchers to study the dynamics of drug production, trafficking, and dealing in Sardinia.The latest volume, "Happiness No Longer Resides Here: Drug Dealing in Sardinia" (edited by Antonietta Mazzette), concludes this extensive research journey. It is from this book that OSCRIM will dedicate the seminar "Is the drug market in Sardinia an emergency? Understanding, controlling, communicating," on Thursday, May 9th at 4:00 PM in the Great Hall of the University. The main purpose of the seminar is to propose a moment of discussion with scholars and experts on the themes of prevention, control, and communication of the drug emergency.The seminar will begin with an introduction by the head of OSCRIM, Antonietta Mazzette, followed by institutional greetings and speeches by the President of the Degree Course in Public Communication and Information Professions, Camillo Tidore, and the President of the Journalists' Order, Francesco Birocchi.The proceedings will be coordinated by journalist Giacomo Mameli, and interventions are expected from Carlo Colloca, Sociologist at the University of Catania, Gilberto Ganassi, Deputy Prosecutor of Cagliari, and Daniela Scano, Journalist for "La Nuova Sardegna."Following the debate, authors and members of the research team from OSCRIM, Giampiero Branca, Romina Deriu, Domenica Dettori, Daniele Pulino, and Sara Spanu, will participate. Director Sante Maurizi will propose readings from life stories featured in the volume.This initiative is part of the events of the "May of Communication" organized by the Degree Course in Public Communication and Information Professions of the Department of History, Human Sciences, and Education of the University of Sassari. 1 CFU recognition is provided for students of course L20 who attend the seminar in person.
