Giovanni Maciocco - Inhabiting the Territory Faculty of Architecture, La Sapienza University, Via Gramsci 53, Rome 7 May 2025 18:00 The traveling exhibition, linked to the IN/ARCH lifetime achievement award for Giovanni Maciocco, will be hosted at the prestigious venue of the Faculty of Architecture of La Sapienza University in Rome. The exhibition, curated by Antonello Marotta, will open on May 7, 2025, at the Faculty’s Exhibition Gallery, Via Gramsci 53, at 6:00 PM, and will remain on view until May 27, 2025.Thirty exhibition panels and two video projections narrate the spatial experience of Giovanni Maciocco, Professor Emeritus at the University of Sassari and founder of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Sassari in Alghero. The exhibition will allow visitors to explore Giovanni Maciocco’s spatial and textual research, through an interplay of different scales, from urban and territorial projects to interventions in environmental contexts. In parallel, two projectors will display completed works, competition entries, and drawings that characterize his extensive design practice, serving as a probe to understand and intervene in low-density territories of extraordinary environmental quality. The theme of the Environmental Project, which Giovanni Maciocco has shaped over decades of research, thus enables the exhibition to showcase, through completed and ongoing works, how it is possible to enhance the territory as an active development project within a perspective of new urbanity.
