Normative Pictures

The conference investigates how pictures – drawings, pictograms, photographs – and non-verbal signs in general can convey norms. Speakers come from a vast array of disciplines such as philosophy of pictorial representation and iconicity, cognitive psychology, philosophy of law, administrative law, urban planning, graphic and visual sciences. Three special sessions are devoted to the normativity of word-free food presentation, the normativity of gestures in conducting, and administrative regulation without words.
