Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods

The Department of Economics and Business (DiSea) at the University of Sassari offers a Ph.D. program in Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods (EMQM) — a four-year, full-time program designed to train researchers capable of tackling complex problems at the frontier of economics, management, and quantitative analysis.

The EMQM program provides a rigorous and stimulating environment where students acquire advanced analytical, theoretical, and empirical skills. Through a blend of high-level coursework and intensive research training, doctoral candidates are encouraged to pursue original ideas, adopt interdisciplinary perspectives, and think creatively and independently when developing their dissertations. The program aims to foster both academic excellence and real-world relevance.

For the second consecutive five-year period (2017–2022 and 2023–2027), DiSea has been recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) as a Department of Excellence. Its faculty members conduct research across diverse fields—including economics, business, mathematical statistics, and law—and regularly publish in leading national and international journals. Alongside the doctoral program, DiSea offers a wide range of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, creating a dynamic and intellectually vibrant academic community.

The EMQM Ph.D. also promotes international and professional engagement. It has several Erasmus exchange agreements for doctoral mobility and a Double Degree Agreement with the Université de Bordeaux. Students meeting the academic requirements of both institutions earn a joint doctoral degree from Sassari and Bordeaux. In addition, the program maintains strong industrial partnerships with major organizations such as Banco di Sardegna, BiBanca, and Sardaleasing, providing valuable opportunities for applied research and collaboration.
