Professional status
Physiotherapist: health worker who, in possession of the qualifying university qualification, carries out, independently or in collaboration with other health figures, the interventions of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation in the areas of motor skills, higher cortical functions, and visceral ones following events pathological, of various etiology, congenital or acquired.
The Physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who works in the infant, adult and geriatric areas in physiotherapy and rehabilitation services within the S.S. National and Regional (see National Health Contract), in private structures accredited and affiliated with the NHS, clinics, rehabilitation structures and centers, Health Care Residences, at the patient's home, in spas and wellness centers, medical clinics and / or polyspecialist clinics. The legislation in force allows the carrying out of freelance activities, in individual or associated professional studies, associations and sports clubs in various types, service cooperatives, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), public or private prevention services.

Specific learning outcomes
The graduate at the end of the course must be able to:
- Make diagnosis and physiotherapy prognosis.
- Collect data on the history, functions, activities, participation, personal and environmental factors.
- Conduct assessments relating to different functional systems using validated instruments and measures, guidelines, according to the principles of evidence-based practice (EBP).
- Analyse and critically interpret relevant data to detect a functional physiotherapy diagnosis and prognostic assumptions taking into account the indexes of recovery.
- Identify the level of disability with reference to the ICF (impairment, disability, social participation) (ICF).
- Define possible alternative hypotheses in the interpretation of data.
- Explicit the clinical reasoning used in reference to physiotherapeutic functional diagnosis.
- Compare the data emerged from the evaluation with possible bibliographic analyzes in relation to the protection of the patient's health.
Define and plan the physiotherapeutic intervention.
- Involve the patient by requesting his active participation and inform him of the sequence of the physiotherapeutic path.
- To define the physiotherapeutic problems and related objectives to be achieved progressively during the course of treatment.
- Identify possible preventive, educational, and palliative interventions.
- Choose the resources that can be used within the rehabilitation program.
- Motivate planning choices with reference to theoretical knowledge, built on evaluation data and based on the best available evidence and patient choices / preferences. - - Formulate your own physiotherapy proposal to the team for defining the objectives of the patient's rehabilitation project.
- Participate in the programming of information-education interventions and suggest activities aimed at managing the person and self-care for patients and relatives.
Manage your work in the Service.
- Plan your work taking into account the objectives and priorities of the service in accordance with organizational needs and optimal use of available resources.
- Evaluate in the planning of the physiotherapy treatment the duration and the frequency of the intervention in relation to the possible side effects of the drugs that can influence the physiotherapeutic treatment.
- Plan the individual rehabilitation session according to the priorities of the interventions, in relation to the problems and needs of each individual patient.
Perform physiotherapy treatment
- Pursue the physiotherapy objectives according to the path established in the planning of the intervention.
- Prepare the setting to implement the physiotherapeutic intervention.
- Implement preventive measures.
- To propose to the assisted person activities consistent with the program, ensuring patient safety and respecting the current legislation.
- Propose and suggest with creativity possible alternative solutions in relation to the results obtained by the patient.
- Use any aids / orthoses to facilitate functional capabilities.
- Maintain a growing and continuous process of collaboration, in taking charge, with patient and / or family and / or caregivers.
Verify and evaluate the results obtained.
- Critically analyze the treatment plan and the rehabilitative proposals in a proactive way.
- Verify in progress the results of the physiotherapy proposal, in collaboration with other professionals.
- Evaluate the achievement of the objectives and measure the outcomes of the physiotherapeutic intervention using validated methodologies and tools.
- Evaluate the entire physiotherapeutic process developed in relation to the effectiveness and efficiency of the results obtained.
Document the professional documents
- Document the activities carried out on the clinical case, respecting the sequence of the physiotherapy pathology methodology using the didactic physiotherapy folder inspired by the "ICF" principles for the required skills.
- To draw up reports relevant to the internship area attended using the methodology for writing scientific articles.
Assume professional attitudes in compliance with the code of ethics.
- Ensure the confidentiality of information relating to the person.
- Respect the patient's individuality, ideas and expectations.
- Operate with methodological rigor applying the continuous scientific acquisitions to the field of competence.
- Demonstrate awareness of one's own limits with respect to the professional attitude, one's own abilities and competences critically self-assessed.
Establish an effective relationship with the assisted person, with family members and the team.
- Establish an effective communication in the relationship of help through the understanding of non-verbal communication, body expression and the assumption of behavior that conforms to the characteristics of the person.
- Illustrate to the person how the physiotherapeutic proposals can influence and / or modify the functional activity.
- Share the physiotherapy project with the person and the family members.
