SARDEGNA FORMED

The Sardinia Foundation launched the "SARDEGNA FORMED" initiative in 2015 to promote international cooperation between the higher education institutions of the Southern Mediterranean and Sardinia, in order to ensure the mobility of university students from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia to the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari.

The “SARDEGNA FORMED” initiative supports the universities of Sardinia in implementing the Bologna Process and strengthens the Euro-Mediterranean partnership through cooperation among higher education institutions in the Maghreb and Europe to foster mutual enrichment and understanding between peoples. The overall goal is to develop excellence in higher education, improve the transparency and recognition of studies and university qualifications, and train young men and women who are highly qualified and capable of responding to the challenges of globalization in the new society and knowledge economy.

The Universities of Sassari and Cagliari, having among their statutory aims the promotion of international scientific and teaching cooperation, confirm their commitment to granting students from the Maghreb participating in the “SARDEGNA FORMED” initiative a complete exemption from the payment of university fees; they implement the project by providing necessary organizational support and ensuring access to reception services typically reserved for foreign students in mobility (including obtaining a visa to enter Italy, requesting a residence permit, assistance in finding accommodation in the cities, access to the cafeterias in Cagliari and Sassari, and language preparation in Italian).

The Sardinia Foundation confirms its collaboration with UNIMED, the association of universities from the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, to manage cooperation relationships, relations with the Maghreb universities participating in the "SARDEGNA FORMED" partnership, and to handle the selection procedures for the students benefiting from the initiative.
