Biomedical Sciences: Franca Deriu confirmed as Director 31 July 2026 They continue at the University of Sassari elections for renewal of the directors of the Departments for the three-year period 2026-2029. The Department of Biomedical Sciences has confirmed Professor Franca Deriu in the role. Deriu, full professor of Physiology, boasts a scientific profile of international importance characterized by an integrated approach to neuroscience which ranges from the study of the physiological mechanisms underlying sensorimotor integration, to clinical neurophysiology and neural adaptations to physical exercise and neuromodulation. Some of these studies have led to the discovery of a nervous reflex, which is currently used in the clinic for diagnostic purposes in patients suffering from otoneurological and neurological diseases. "The consensus and trust renewed by our community represent not only a reason for profound pride, but above all the act of awareness of a Department that believes in itself and its abilities - commented Professor Deriu - The path traced over the last three years, based on sharing, transparency and self-determination, has proven to be the winning choice.
