In Alghero "Motor and sports activities in a natural environment" 10 June 2026 The University of Sassari promotes the national conference "Motor and sports activity in a natural environment - UNISS 2026", scheduled for june 14th from 9.00 at 5.00 pm, in the Lo Quarter conference room in Alghero. The initiative will bring together professors, researchers, experts from numerous Italian universities, including the University of Sassari, the "G. D'Annunzio" University of Chieti-Pescara, the University of Padua, the University of Rome "Foro Italico", the University of Calabria and the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, as well as scholars and professionals from numerous other universities and research entities national. The meeting will be divided into a series of scientific reports dedicated to the opportunities offered by natural environments for the practice of physical and sporting activities. Particular attention will be paid to the characteristics of the Sardinian territory and, more generally, of the Italian environmental heritage, highlighting the role that these contexts can play in promoting health, psychophysical well-being and quality of life. Around 150 participants are expected, including researchers, scholars from Italian and foreign universities and students of the degree courses in Sports Science at the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari. The event is organized with the support of the Sardinia Foundation and thanks to the 5x1000 Irpef funds of the University of Sassari. The venue of the conference will once again be the conference room of the Alghero Foundation "Lo Quarter", which had already successfully hosted the 2023 edition. Alongside the scientific sessions, the program also includes some practical activities dedicated to promoting sport in a natural environment. In the afternoon of saturday 13 June an urban orienteering event will take place in the historic center of Alghero, coordinated by the Italian Sports Orientation Federation. In the morning of sunday 15 June instead, the Porto Ferro beach will host a surf activity organized in collaboration with the Italian Surfing, Water Skiing and Wakeboarding Federation (FISSW). The activities, upon registration, will be open to conference participants, male and female students and members of patient associations active in the area, with the aim of encouraging participation and inclusion through sports practice. The initiative enjoys the patronage of numerous bodies and institutions, including the Italian Society of Motor and Sports Sciences, the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation, CONI Sardegna, Sport e Salute, Sardegna Ricerche, the GAL Anglona Coros, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and numerous sports and patient associations in the area. The conference will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Sassari ( https://www. youtube. com/@DipartimentoScienzeBiomediche ). Encouraging sports practice as a founding element of a healthy life is one of the objectives of the University of Sassari, which introduced the degree course in Sports Sciences in 2019.
