The Engineering Department of the University of Sassari introduces itself 21 May 2026 n open discussion between universities, businesses and institutions to imagine and plan the future of the area together. This is the goal of “Engineering, Innovation, Business – A partnership for the future of Northern Sardinia”, the scheduled event promoted by the Engineering Department of the University of Sassari tuesday 26 May from 11:00 in the Aula Magna of the University . A day of dialogue and shared planning that was born with a clear objective: to strengthen the link between higher education, research and the production system, creating new opportunities for collaboration capable of generating development, innovation and competitiveness for Northern Sardinia. The initiative represents a strategic moment for the new Engineering Department, called to play an increasingly central role in the growth of the territory through the training of new skills and the transfer of knowledge towards the business world. The work will begin with the welcoming of the participants and the institutional greetings of the Rector Gavino Mariotti, followed by the presentation of the new Department and its training courses: the degree course in Computer Engineering and the one in Industrial Engineering, designed to respond to the transformations of the labor market and the innovation needs of companies. In the afternoon, starting from 2.00 pm, attention will shift to the role of the Department in the so-called Third Mission: that set of activities that translate research and academic skills into concrete value for society and the territory. Through testimonies from researchers and entrepreneurs, some success stories will be told, showing how ideas, applied research and innovation can be transformed into projects and development opportunities. Closing the day will be a round table, moderated by the journalist Simona Desole, entitled "The new Engineering Department and its territory: how to develop the best synergies in the next three years", an open comparison between the academic world, institutions and the production system to identify shared strategies and build an ecosystem capable of attracting talent, investments and new opportunities. More than a conference, a laboratory of ideas and relationships to put engineering at the service of the future of Northern Sardinia.
