International Exchanges with the Universidad de la República (Uruguay)

Scambi internazionali con la Universidad de la Republica (Uruguay)

Professor Domenico Meloni (Department of Veterinary Medicine) recently completed a combined teaching and training mobility period at the Facultad de Veterinaria of the Universidad de la República (Montevideo), a partner university within the Erasmus KA171 program. This program supports and promotes exchanges of students and staff with universities in third countries not associated with the Program. The mobility was a significant opportunity for discussion on topics related to veterinary medicine and facilitated the exchange of knowledge on food safety of fishery products and the organization of official controls in the European Union.

Luigi Crobu, a postgraduate student specializing in Inspection of Foods of Animal Origin at UNISS, was also hosted by the partner university. He is currently undertaking a traineeship mobility at the Universidad de la República thanks to the Erasmus Traineeship Program. Among various training activities, the specialist participated as a speaker in an important seminar held at the international institution. This seminar focused on the determination of Histamine in fishery products and also involved external stakeholders such as food industry operators and public service veterinary doctors.

Erasmus experiences promote the personal and professional enrichment of participants, foster academic collaboration, and contribute to the internationalization of the involved institutions.
