World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought: "Land Restoration" Event

On June 17th, coinciding with the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, which this year focuses on Land Restoration, the Desertification Research Center (NRD), in collaboration with the CNR's Institute for BioEconomy, and as part of two Horizon Europe Mission Soil funded projects, Monalisa (NRD) and Terrasafe (University of Aveiro), have organized an event centered on the day's theme.

Morning Session: "Innovations for tackling desertification" Webinar

In the morning, the Monalisa and Terrasafe projects will lead an English-language webinar titled "Innovations for tackling desertification." This session aims to share knowledge, innovative solutions, and case studies related to soil degradation and desertification.

Afternoon Session: Italian Webinar and Documentary Screening

In the afternoon, an Italian-language webinar, co-coordinated by NRD and CNR, will provide an opportunity for reflection with concrete examples of collaborations between research and citizens, businesses, and local authorities. A final round table discussion will focus on a shared vision for sustainable land management strategies.

This will be followed by a screening (in-person only, at the Barbieri Classroom of the UNISS Department of Agriculture) of the documentary "Deserts on the move: Europe" by Ingo Herbst, in collaboration with the "Pensieri e Parole: libri e film all’Asinara" festival.

Please note: Training credits will be awarded to students, PhD candidates, and agronomists/forestry doctors who attend the webinars.
