Radio Uni Sassari, the voice of the students

«We want to be the voice of the students, their megaphone». This is how the president of the association, Andrea Maurizi, a twenty-one year old student in his third year of the Communication Sciences course, describes in a few words the essence of Radio Uni Sassari, managed by the student association of the same name and founded four years ago, in 2020. «We do this by placing our passions, our interests at the center of the story – he continues -, so as to recover a voice that is often a little apart. And at the same time we give the opportunity to discuss and build human relationships outside and inside the radio" with a rich schedule: seven podcasts, one for each day of the week. From sport with NSF (Non Solo Fuorigioco) to cinema, with Quarta Parete, passing through the music of 33 Giri and talks like Tra virgolette.

"One of the activities that makes us most proud is then the podcast Apertamente, which is among the most followed and deals with difficult and sensitive issues, those of mental distress. It is conducted in turn by all the boys and girls of the editorial staff, with a permanent presence, psychologist Eleonora Secchi." "It is almost a psychological session open to everyone. Everyone brings their weaknesses to the table, but at the end of the episode they turn into strengths, thanks to the dialogue."

But the kids are looking further: «We are working to be able to broadcast live and, in the future, activate a real frequency modulation radio and video podcasts». Thirty young people, mostly coming from the course of studies in Public Communication and Information Professions, which has supported the work of the association since the beginning, with boys and girls also coming from other faculties. They are divided into three sectors: there is the actual editorial team, coordinated by Samuele Salis, who discusses the topics to be broadcast; there is a technical area, coordinated by Kawter Echafoui, where the kids deal with direction and editing; and finally there is the communication sector, directed by Leonardo Murgia, which constantly updates the radio's social channels.

An organization that perfectly follows that of professional radios. It is no coincidence that the young people explain that one of the strongest motivations, among those that pushed them to commit themselves within Radio Uni Sassari, is precisely the possibility of learning, self-taught but with constant mutual help, to work in the world of communication and of information.
