The energy transition in Sardinia: challenges, risks, and opportunities Santa Chiara Complex, Nivola Hall - Department of Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning (Alghero) 30 January 2024 09:00 In the context of the broader phase of energy transition involving the entire European Community, Sardinia finds itself at the center of a process that will determine an irreversible transformation of the landscape and structure of the territory. Currently under environmental impact assessment by the Ministry of the Environment and the Region of Sardinia, numerous projects for high-capacity electric power generation plants, both wind and solar, are being evaluated for implementation across the entire island.Given the premise that the pursuit of alternative energy sources to fossil fuels, coupled with a policy of reducing consumption, is a vigorously pursued goal, and that wind and solar sources are currently the most crucial tools for ensuring the possibility of life on our planet for ourselves and many other beings, we want to question whether the way this ecological transition, not just an energy one, is being implemented is heading in the right direction. It is in this regard that, as the Degree Course in Urban Planning and Design, we intend to propose, at our Department, a collective conversation (the program is attached) in which we attempt to reflect together on this significant transition our land is about to undergo. You are all invited to participate!By Lidia DecandiaDegree Course in Urban PlanningDepartment of Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning in Alghero Poster
