MARINA LODDO: ERASMUS, A LIFE EXPERIENCE THAT OPENS YOU TO THE WORLD

Studenti Erasmus

ERASMUS: A LIFE EXPERIENCE THAT OPENS YOU TO THE WORLD. HERE IS THE STORY OF MARINA LODDO, A STUDENT IN THE MASTER'S PROGRAM IN ARCHITECTURE.

Erasmus in Sweden, why?

I wanted to challenge myself with a lifestyle and environments completely different from ours. Not only to have unique experiences like seeing the northern lights, walking on the frozen sea to an island, venturing into endless forests to find breathtaking views, and even taking a dip in the Arctic Ocean. Every moment there is precious, like ordinary bike rides and skating on the lake near home. Additionally, I wanted to understand the job opportunities that Sweden offered and start creating a network in case I decided to return.

The best aspects of your Erasmus

The welcome and dedication of the ESN of Luleå and the university were crucial: they made us feel welcome and managed to create, through the services, activities, and events organized, a strong bond that made it easy to settle in and find friends to share the experience with. LTU students have a strong sense of identity and a strong inclination to help others.

Did you face any difficulties?

For me, the biggest challenge was adapting to long bike rides in any weather conditions: rain, wind, ice, snow... it doesn't matter, you go!

What has this experience brought you?

The desire to have a simpler and more sustainable lifestyle like theirs, and the awareness that there is no limit if there is the will to overcome it and the ability to enjoy the little things.

If you had to advise a colleague about Erasmus, what would you say?

Don't think too much, go for it! Seize every opportunity even if it scares you, even if you think you won't make it... somehow you will, and if not, at least you tried!

P.S.: buy a bike right away, join hockey training from the beginning, and travel as much as you can!
